AP Chambers seeks direct flights between Vijayawada and Kochi
The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) has submitted representations to IndiGo and Air India, seeking direct flights between Vijayawada and Kochi ahead of the Sabarimala pilgrimage season from November to January.
AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao said about three lakh pilgrims from the catchment area served by Vijayawada airport travel to Sabarimala every year. Direct flights to Kochi would offer a convenient travel option for pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he said, urging the airlines to introduce services at the earliest with suitable frequency and timings to meet seasonal demand.
The Chambers also urged the airlines to explore year-round services between Vijayawada and Kochi, citing growing demand for tourism, healthcare, business travel and other passenger services from Vijayawada and Amaravati.
