Lanka Dinakar campaigns for NDA Mayoral candidate in Anantapur
Implementation of Twenty Points Programme (Viksit Bharat–Swarna Andhra Pradesh) chairman Lanka Dinakar on Monday (October 26, 2026) said that the primary objective of the NDA government is to transform the Anantapur Municipal Corporation into “Viksit Anantapur” and urged the people to give the coalition government a thumping victory in the civic polls.
Addressing the media along with AMC Mayoral candidate Ajesh Babu, Mr. Dinakar said that with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and with the coordination of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, Ajesh Babu can make “Viksit Anantapur” a reality.
He said the Central government sanctioned a total of ₹736.27 crore for drinking water supply and sewage management projects within the urban local bodies of Anantapur district. This includes ₹305.60 crore under AMRUT 2.0 and ₹430.67 crore through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
He said during former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule, funds meant for local bodies were diverted, whereas the alliance government has allocated funds for urban development. “Between 2019 and 2024, during the five years of the YSRCP government, ₹179 crore was allocated to Anantapur Municipal Corporation, but a major portion of these funds was diverted elsewhere,” he alleged.
After the alliance government came to power in 2024, plans for an additional ₹857.71 crore worth of development works for the Corporation under AMRUT 2.0 and other initiatives were prepared. These include ₹750 crore for stormwater drainage and ₹107.71 crore for sewage treatment, canal development, and water supply.
Mr. Ajesh Babu sought the support of voters for “Viksit Anantapuram” and to ensure safe and secure drinking water for every household, underground drainage infrastructure, beautification of the city, and resolution of traffic issues.
