Nilgiri Mountain Railway services cancelled from October 27 to 29

The Railways has cancelled Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) services from October 27 to 29, 2026 in view of heavy rainfall and earth slips at many places.

Services of Mettupalayam – Udagamandalam Passenger Train (No.56136) scheduled to depart from Mettupalayam 7.10 a.m., and the Udagamandalam – Mettupalayam Passenger Train (No.56137) scheduled to depart at 2 p.m. in the return direction have been cancelled, a release issued by the Southern Railway said.

Works are on to remove boulders and mud, and trees fallen on the railway track. Railway personnel were engaged in restoration works despite continuous rainfall and difficult terrain, the release added.
