Vande Mataram camp fosters national unity among youth: MP

Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar inaugurating the Vande Mataram camp in Mysuru on Sunday.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said the Vande Mataram camp, organised at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering in Mysuru, provides a platform for young people from different States to understand one another’s cultures and traditions and strengthen national unity.

Speaking at the programme on Sunday, he said the camp, organised to mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, aimed to promote patriotism, national integration and cultural exchange among youth.

He urged young people to preserve their cultural heritage while respecting the traditions of other States. Although India is home to diverse languages, religions, cultures, and customs, national unity remains the binding force, he said, calling upon youth to develop mutual respect and a spirit of cooperation.

Mr. Yaduveer said young people should understand democratic values, exercise their rights responsibly and follow constitutional means to bring about change. Recalling the sacrifices made by earlier generations, he urged them to contribute to building a strong, united and economically developed India.

The camp features sports activities, cultural programmes, speeches, and arts competitions, providing participants from different States an opportunity to showcase their talents and exchange ideas.

M. Raghu Kautilya, MLC, said Vande Mataram had inspired patriotism and unity during the freedom struggle and continued to symbolise the national spirit that binds people across linguistic and cultural differences.

Mr. Kautilya suggested that the participants be taken to one or two schools in Mysuru to interact with students and participate in cultural exchanges. Such interactions would help schoolchildren understand the cultures, traditions, and lifestyles of different parts of the country, he said.

Vidyavardhaka College principal Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda and others were present.
