Student attacked allegedly for reporting drug use

The student was reportedly attacked while walking to school from his mother’s house at Paloliparamba on Monday.

A Class X student of Government Higher Secondary School, Anamangad, near Perinthalmanna, was attacked by an unidentified group allegedly for informing teachers about drug use among students.

The student was reportedly attacked while walking to school from his mother’s house at Paloliparamba on Monday (October 26). The attackers, who arrived on a motorcycle, allegedly hit him on the head and fled. They could not be identified as they were wearing helmets.

The student sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was admitted to Government District Hospital, Perinthalmanna. His parents have filed a complaint with the police.

According to the student, he had earlier informed teachers about some students using drugs at school and faced threats following the disclosure. The police suspect the attack was linked to his reporting the matter to teachers.

A police team led by a sub-inspector visited the school as part of the investigation. The student’s parents demanded action against those involved in the assault and those allegedly supplying drugs to students.
