By Olasunkanmi Akoni The Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has initiated critical stabilisation and expansion works on tipping platforms E1 and E2 at the Olusosun dumpsite in Ojota. The upgrade, executed in partnership with Zoomlion Nigeria Limited, aims to expand platform capacity, allow more waste collection trucks to discharge simultaneously, and significantly enhance operational safety and speed. Speaking at the agency’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa on Monday, LAWMA Executive Director of Finance, Mr.

Kunle Adebiyi, disclosed that construction on the site is progressing according to schedule. Adebiyi noted that the Olusosun upgrade is part of a broader infrastructure plan that includes ongoing improvements at other major dumping facilities, such as Solus III and Epe. “Together, these upgrades are expected to strengthen the state’s overall waste evacuation network, dramatically reduce truck turnaround times, and improve service delivery across Lagos,” he stated. To minimise disruption during the construction phase, Adebiyi appealed for cooperation from Private Sector Participation, PSP operators, waste truck drivers, and other key industry stakeholders. The agency therefore reaffirmed its commitment to upgrading waste management infrastructure and maintaining a cleaner, healthier environment for all residents of Lagos State.
