Ghana will return to U-17 Women's World Cup action on Wednesday, October 28, when they fight for a spot in the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

The Black Maidens will face Argentina in the round of 16 following their progression into the next phase of the tournament being played in Morocco.

Nana Joe Adarkwa's side advanced into the next phase of the competition following their 2-0 victory over Canada in their final group game, with two substitutes, Linda Achiaa and Christiana Ashiaku, scoring the goals.

Having finished second, the Black Maidens will face Argentina, who also finished second in Group C.

Unlike Ghana, Argentina won two out of their three games in the group phase, beating Morocco and New Zealand while losing to Germany.

The Argentines scored nine goals in three group games while conceding three goals in that period.

Comparing that to Ghana, they were the better side in terms of goals scored and goals conceded, as Ghana scored five goals and conceded six goals.

For the Black Maidens, this is the first time they are making the last 16 stage since the 2018 edition, which was also their last appearance in the competition prior to qualifying for the 2026 tournament.

Aregntina, on the other hand, are playing in the competition for the very first time and will look to upset Ghana on Wednesday to advance into the last eight.

The game is scheduled for an 18:00 GMT kickoff in Rabat.
