Ghana’s Black Meteors head coach xis confident the U-23 national team can end their long-standing absence from the Olympic Games by qualifying for the 2028 edition in Los Angeles.

The Meteors have not featured at the global showpiece since the 2004 edition in Athens.

The team are currently in camp intensifying preparations for their Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Libya.

“The boys are, like I said, very hungry to prove themselves and to give a good show,” Desmond said.

“So, it will be a good game, and we'll do very well. We'll do everything in our power to beat Libya and then, in March, take on whoever comes. So, we'll be ready. We'll be ready for sure.”

Asked whether Ghana could end their Olympic absence, Ofei said: “100%. I believe so because we feel that the time is right. It's been way too long, and we are preparing really well. The boys are very hungry to prove to the nation that there's a lot of talent in this country."

Ghana will travel to Libya for the first leg on November 11 before hosting the return fixture six days later.

The qualifying campaign consists of three rounds, with seven nations set to join hosts Egypt at the eight-team U-23 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
