South Central Railway (SCR) on Tuesday (October 27, 2026) has announced the cancellation of popular daily express trains towards Visakhapatnam — including Godavari, Gautami, Visakha, Falaknuma, Narapur, Garib Rath and a few others — in view of Cyclone Arnab, which is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds across parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring regions over the next two days.

Top railway officials urged passengers to plan their journeys carefully as the cyclone is likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, near Yanam, on Wednesday (October 28, 2026) as a very severe cyclonic storm.

In view of the weather conditions, several trains operating through affected sections may be cancelled, diverted or rescheduled in the interest of passenger safety and smooth train operations, said SCR’s General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava after reviewing the railway’s preparedness with senior officials.

He assessed the safety arrangements in vulnerable sections and bridges, inspected patrol deployment plans and reviewed the status of water levels in tanks and other sensitive locations. The readiness of emergency resources, including boulders, sandbags, ballast rakes, Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) positioned at Kazipet and Dornakal for rapid deployment, if required, was also checked.

The General Manager has directed officials from the operating, engineering, electrical, mechanical, commercial and medical departments to remain on high alert as round-the-clock monitoring of train operations, bridge conditions and water levels at vulnerable points was taken up.

Passengers were advised to check the latest train information before commencing their journey through official railway platforms such as IRCTC, RailOne and NTES, or by calling the railway enquiry number 139. Updates regarding cancellations, diversions and rescheduling of trains will also be communicated through SMS, railway social media handles and the SCR website, as per a press release.
