Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday (October 27, 2026) criticised the comments made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge about Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling them unfortunate. Speaking to media persons, he expressed disbelief that a senior leader from the Congress party would make such statements.

The remarks made by Mr. Kharge regarding Mr. Modi’s late father has sparked criticism from several political leaders.

While condemning the remarks, the Chief Minister alleged that the Opposition is focused only on making Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister rather than addressing people’s needs. He pointed out that the INDIA bloc lacks a clear policy or ideology leading to its repeated election failures.

Mr. Saha also stated that the Opposition’s alleged plan to change the government in India creating a situation like those in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Nepal will not succeed. He questioned their current political direction and remarked on the uncertainty of their future.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated newly constructed buildings at the combined campus housing the Government Nursing College, Dr. BRAM Nursing School and the ANM Training Institute at Durjoy Nagar in Agartala. The facilities aim to improve health education and nursing training in the State, expanding resources for nursing students and aiding in the development of a skilled healthcare workforce.
