2026 U17 WWC: Black Maidens eye ‘glory’ after making knockout stages – Adarkwa

Black Maidens eye ‘glory’ after making knockout stages – Adarkwa. Head coach of Ghana’s Black Maidens, Nana Joe Adarkwa, says his side are now going all out for the top prize after advancing into the next stage of the 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Head coach of Ghana's Black Maidens, Nana Joe Adarkwa, says his side are now going all out for the top prize after advancing into the next stage of the 2026 U-17 Women's World Cup.

Ghana booked a place in the knockout phase of the competition following a 2-0 win over Canada in their final group game, ensuring they finished second in Group C, where they set up a clash against debutants Argentina.

Adarkwa's side are in the last 16 of the tournament following their return after failing to appear in the last three editions prior to this year's competition.

The gaffer believes there is only one target from here after reaching the crucial stage of the competition, starting with the clash against the South Americans.

"We all saw what happened against Canada, so going forward, they have psyched themselves in terms of motivation, and I know they will deliver against Argentina," he told CitiSports.

"When we were coming to this World Cup, our first target was to cross the group stage. Now that we’ve done that, we want to push Argentina to one side and keep going. So our target right now is to go for the glory and nothing else."

Ghana's game against Argentina is on Wednesday, October 28, with kickoff scheduled for 18:00 GMT.
