Probe on track in PSC exam case, State informs Kerala HC

The Kerala High Court building in Ernakulam.
The State government has informed the Kerala High Court that investigation was “vigorously” progressing into the alleged irregularities in the Planning Board examination conducted by the Kerala Public Services Commission (KPSC).
Justice A. Badharudeen granted time to the de facto complainant, V.S. Jayalal, to file his objections in the case.
The State apprised the court that the commission had suspended two persons in connection with the alleged irregularities. The State sought to know how the commission could seek to quash the first information report registered in the case, if it was taking action on the allegations.
The court orally remarked that in any case, the truth would come out eventually.
The allegations arose from the evaluation process of an examination for the appointment of Chief (Industry and Infrastructure Division) in the Kerala State Planning Board. Questions nine to 14 under “Economics” were not allotted to the appropriate evaluators, which resulted in their non-assessment. The commission claimed that the error was a computer snag and stated that it had taken measures to rectify the identified errors.
The KPSC had approached the court seeking to quash the sanction granted by the government to prosecute commission’s employees and the FIR registered in connection with the alleged irregularities with the Crime Branch police station.
