Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday warned revenue officials and employees of strict action if there was no improvement in their performance, asserting that delays in resolving land-related issues would not be tolerated.
Addressing a review meeting on the functioning of the Revenue, Registration and Housing departments at the Sangareddy Collectorate, the Minister said the State government had launched a comprehensive re-survey of lands to provide a permanent solution to land disputes and bring greater transparency to land records. During the review, he interacted with Tahsildars and surveyors and sought details on the progress of the survey, including the number of villages covered, extent of land surveyed, daily survey targets and timelines for completion.
He instructed survey staff to clearly explain land extents and boundaries to farmers and ensure there were no ambiguities regarding ownership details. Revenue officials, from Tahsildars to District Collectors, were directed to closely monitor field-level survey activities, interact with farmers regularly and resolve issues without delay.
The Minister said the government aimed to complete the re-survey of agricultural lands and private properties across the State within one-and-a-half years. In the first phase, the exercise is being carried out in 70 villages in each district. District Collectors and revenue officials were asked to undertake extensive field visits to villages where the re-survey is under way.
On housing schemes, Mr. Srinivas Reddy said house allotments would continue in phases until every eligible poor family realised the dream of owning a home. He said the government was taking steps to make cement available at ₹230 a bag to reduce the construction cost burden on beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme.
The Minister also directed officials to expedite the completion of pending double-bedroom housing projects and ensure that allotments were made swiftly, transparently and strictly on merit.
MPs M. Raghunandan Rao and Suresh Shetkar, local MLAs, and Collectors of Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet districts, Prateek Jain, Haimavathi and Pratima Singh, along with senior officials, attended the meeting.
