Dasara’s unsung heroes to be honoured with special lunch
Around 2,000 pourakarmikas who helped keep Mysuru clean during Dasara 2026 will be hosted to a special lunch at Rajendra Kalamandira on Wednesday by Urban Development and Mysuru District Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
The programme, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, is intended to recognise the contribution of civic workers who worked round the clock to maintain the city’s cleanliness during the 10-day festival, which attracted lakhs of tourists and visitors.
The pourakarmikas played a key role in keeping major roads, traffic circles, public spaces, festival venues and procession routes clean during the celebrations, helping Mysuru maintain its reputation as a clean city, according to a press release.
The lunch is being organised as a gesture of gratitude to the pourakarmikas. The Minister is expected to interact with them and thank them for their dedicated service.
The initiative also seeks to acknowledge the role of pourakarmikas in the successful conduct of major public events and encourage them to continue their efforts.
