Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has donated an undisclosed amount to Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

Although the amount has not been officially disclosed, sources indicate that the donation is estimated to be between GHS 50,000 and GHS 100,000.

Ayew visited the team at their training to offer his support and encourage the players ahead of the tournament, which will take place from 13 to 22 November in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.

“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” he said.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq, with 24 national teams set to compete for the title.

The donation adds to the support the Black Challenge have received ahead of their World Cup campaign as they seek to build on Ghana’s reputation in amputee football.
