The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday (October 23, 2026) alleged that Chilakaluripet Rural Sub-Inspector Priyanka pushed former Minister and party constituency in-charge Vidadala Rajini to the ground during an incident at her residence in Chilakaluripet.

According to a statement released by the YSRCP, Ms. Rajini was under house arrest while attempting to distribute B-forms to candidates contesting the ongoing local body elections. Police allegedly stopped Yadlapadu ZPTC candidate Pandula Bullabbayi, a Dalit leader, at the gate when he arrived to meet her.

The party alleged that Ms. Rajini questioned the police over preventing her party candidates from entering her residence and requested that they be allowed inside.

Condemning the incident, the YSRCP described the police action against a former Minister and a woman leader at her own residence as unacceptable. It alleged that police were obstructing its candidates from filing nominations at the behest of Telugu Desam Party leaders.

The party demanded immediate action against the officer concerned, an independent investigation into the allegations and intervention by the State Election Commission to ensure candidates' safety and prevent interference in the nomination process. It also sought accountability from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu over the alleged police misconduct.
