Trailer carrying cabbage overturns at Ahodwo Roundabout, driver injured

A trailer transporting cabbage from Accra to Daban in the Nhyiaeso suburb of Kumasi has overturned at the Ahodwo Roundabout, leaving the driver with injuries. A trailer transporting cabbage from Accra to Daban in the Nhyiaeso suburb of Kumasi has overturned at the Ahodwo Roundabout, leaving the driver with injuries. The incident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, as the driver, identified as Kwame Moses, was negotiating the roundabout. Speaking to Adom News, Kwame said the weight of the load caused the trailer to overturn while he was navigating the roundabout.

“I was coming from Accra to offload my load at Daban, a few kilometres from here, when the weight of the load caused the trailer to overturn. I sustained injuries to my left hand,” he said. The driver said he had contacted his superiors to arrange for a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the road and prevent traffic congestion. He also appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to deploy its towing vehicle to assist in clearing the trailer and ease traffic flow around the roundabout.

Some eyewitnesses who spoke to Adom News said they rushed away from the scene when they noticed the trailer overturning to avoid being caught up in the incident. “When we saw the trailer overturning, we quickly moved away to avoid further casualties. However, we saw that the driver had been injured,” said an eyewitness. The eyewitnesses cautioned that the failure to remove the overturned trailer promptly could lead to severe traffic congestion along the stretch, particularly during the morning rush hour.
