PoCSO accused sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment in Hyderabad

A 25-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by the L.B. Nagar Fast Track Special Court for Rape and PoCSO Cases on Wednesday in a case involving repeated sexual harassment of a minor girl.

The court also imposed a fine of ₹32,000 on the accused, Jarpula Ganesh, 25, a private employee from Dayyalaguda Thanda in Maheshwaram mandal, and directed that ₹1.50 lakh be paid as compensation to the victim.

According to the prosecution case, the complainant was living with Ganesh and her minor daughter in a live-in relationship. During this period, Ganesh repeatedly sexually harassed the girl and threatened her with consequences if she disclosed the abuse. He also allegedly threatened to circulate explicit photographs and videos of the complainant and her daughter on social media.

On October 29, 2024, Ganesh allegedly took the complainant and her daughter to an isolated location in Mamidipally village and attempted to sexually assault the minor again. He fled after the complainant raised an alarm and the girl resisted, according to the police.

The victim’s complaint led to a case being registered at Pahadishareef police station on November 27, 2024. Police said a detailed investigation was conducted and evidence was presented before the court, which found the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Senior police officials commended the investigating officers, staff and the prosecutor for securing the conviction.
