Toofan Jagaran to be held on November 5 in Palakkad

A Toofan Jagaran awareness programme will be organised by the people’s collective ‘Proud of Palakkad’ as part of the campaign against drug abuse at the Fort Grounds here on November 5. The programme will begin at 7 a.m. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will be the chief guest.

V.K. Sreekandan, MP, said here on Wednesday that drug abuse had become a social problem, with several people arrested with narcotic substances in the past two to three months. He said students, youth, workers and women would take part in the programme.

An organising committee was formed to coordinate the event, Mr. Sreekandan said. V.S. Mohammed Kasim, P.V. Rajesh, T.K. Henry and Prakash Uliyeri also attended the press meet.
