The first consignment of GI-tagged Tandur red gram from Telangana was flagged off from Hyderabad, Telangana, to Australia on Wednesday (October 28, 2026). It was facilitated by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Tandur red gram is the first agricultural product from the State to receive Geographical Indication (GI) registration. The Tandur red gram is primarily cultivated in the rainfed tracts of four mandals in the Tandur region namely Tandur, Basheerabad, Peddemul and Yelal.
