Complaint accuses activist, six others of assaulting migrant workers in Hulimangala

In a complaint addressed to the Home Minister and the Police Commissioner, Syed Imtiyaz, a migrant labourer and resident of Hulimangala, alleged that Dr. Nagendra and six others arrived in two cars between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday and entered the premises, demanding identity proofs and other documents.

A complaint has been submitted to the Karnataka Home Minister and the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner accusing right-wing activist Nagendra and six others of trespassing into a migrant labourers’ settlement in Hulimangala and assaulting women and men after demanding identity documents.

The complaint also alleges that the group demanded between ₹5 lakh and ₹6 lakh.

According to the complainant, the residents cooperated and produced the requested documents, but the group allegedly assaulted women and four young men, accusing them of being illegal immigrants, leaving them injured and traumatised.

The complainant said the police were alerted immediately. The seven alleged attackers reportedly attempted to flee after learning that the police had been called, but local residents intercepted them and prevented them from leaving.

Imtiyaz sought urgent intervention by the Home Minister and the Police Commissioner, requesting action against Dr. Nagendra and the other six alleged assailants, and measures to ensure the safety of the affected families.

Dr. Nagendra was allegedly booked earlier in a similar case in Whitefield involving the assault of migrant workers on suspicion that they were illegal immigrants.
