The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government is set to host its first investment conversion conclave in November to announce how many investment commitments made since it came to power have translated into actual projects on the ground.
Sources said that the event will be held in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Till date, the TVK government has signed 112 MoUs worth over ₹1,14,812 crore.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce S. Keerthana will be visiting Germany in the first week of November 2026. She is expected to meet key companies across sectors, sources added.
According to details shared by Michael Hasper, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, more than 120 German companies are established in Tamil Nadu, including subsidiaries and joint ventures, and their number continues to grow. After Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu is the second-largest destination for German foreign direct investment in India.
“German companies are particularly strong in automotive manufacturing and components, mechanical engineering, industrial automation, electrical engineering, chemicals and renewable energy. Major investors include BMW, Daimler Truck, Bosch, ZF, Siemens, Schwing Stetter, SEW-EURODRIVE, Herrenknecht, Nordex and Knorr-Bremse,” Mr. Hasper said.
“Increasingly, German companies are also investing in software development, engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), including Bosch in Coimbatore, BMW TechWorks and Hapag-Lloyd in Chennai,” he added.
To a query on what potential do German companies see in Tamil Nadu and which sectors offer the greatest opportunities for future investment, Mr. Hasper said: “We are currently witnessing a strong new wave of German investment in Tamil Nadu. Large German corporations are expanding their operations, while an increasing number of German Mittelstand companies are discovering Tamil Nadu as a strategic location for manufacturing, engineering and global supply chains.”
During former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin’s visit to Germany in September 2025, 26 investment agreements worth approximately ₹7,020 crore were concluded. These included major investments by Knorr-Bremse, Nordex and Vensys Energy, as well as expansions by established German investors such as BASF, Herrenknecht and Witzenmann.
“This strong investment momentum has continued under Chief Minister Vijay. At the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave in Chennai in August 2026, Daimler Truck announced an additional investment of ₹4,000 crore to expand its BharatBenz manufacturing and R&D facilities in Oragadam. German company BITZER announced an investment of ₹300 crore to establish its first Indian manufacturing facility for refrigeration and air-conditioning compressors in Kancheepuram,” Mr. Hasper said.
