TN Teachers Education University gets new Registrar-in-charge following allegation of irregularities by civilian group

Welcoming the move, M. Radhakrishnan of Arappor Iyakkam, in a statement, demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the complaint and legal action against those involved in the “fraud”

The Higher Education Department has appointed M. Kanmani, Dean, Department of Educational Technology, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU) as the Registrar-in-charge after the incumbent Registrar was removed following allegations of irregularities by corruption watch group, Arappor Iyakkam.

In a notification issued by the TNTEU on October 26, the appointment of Prof. Kanmani was announced “consequent to the relieving of Dr. K. Rajasekaran on 26.10.2026 ... from the post of Registrar i/c of this University”. Arappor Iyakkam had, earlier this month, alleged discrepancies in the affiliation inspection process conducted during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years.

Welcoming the move, M. Radhakrishnan of Arappor Iyakkam, in a statement, demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the complaint and legal action against those involved in the “fraud”.

Additionally, the organisation insisted on publishing full details, including photographs, of faculty members working in affiliated colleges on the university’s website, to prohibit the practice of conducting ‘irregular classes’, implement a monthly online Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system for the faculty, as is the current practice in Anna University, and to publish the resolutions passed by the Syndicate on the university’s website.

After acquiring official records under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, the organisation had pointed out that physical inspections were carried out in multiple colleges on the same day although they were several kilometres apart. It also said that certain individuals were listed as principals of multiple colleges at the same time.
