‎ ‎ ‎By Johnbosco Agbakwuru ‎ ‎As President Bola Tinubu prepares to visit Kaduna State on Saturday for his campaign tour, a chieftain of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and senatorial candidate for Kaduna North, Dr Abdullahi Ahmad Wakili, has urged the seven governors of the Northwest to abandon political silence and confront the President directly over the region’s worsening security crisis. ‎ ‎Wakili said the visit must not end in “political speeches, campaign promises and party celebrations” while residents of the Northwest continue to face kidnapping, banditry and violent attacks. ‎ ‎According to him: “The Northwest is bleeding, our communities are living in fear, and too many families continue to suffer the consequences of insecurity. ‎ ‎ “For residents of affected communities, the issue is not political slogans or campaign activities; it is the fundamental right to live, work, travel and sleep without the constant fear of kidnapping, banditry and violent attacks.” ‎ ‎He specifically called on Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara to rise above partisan differences and speak with one voice. ‎ ‎“You are the elected leaders of the people of the Northwest.

You cannot claim to represent our interests while failing to communicate the urgency of the security crisis to the highest authority in the country,” Wakili said. ‎ ‎He stressed that the governors’ access to the President should be used to secure tangible protection for citizens rather than merely strengthen political relationships. ‎ ‎“My message to the seven governors is direct: do not waste this opportunity.

Do not allow the President to leave Kaduna without hearing the truth about the suffering of our people,” he added. ‎ ‎Wakili urged the governors to tell President Tinubu that the region could no longer endure “endless insecurity” while communities demanded protection and families struggled to recover from violent attacks. ‎ ‎“Tell him that the people are tired of promises that do not translate into lasting security.

Tell him that the time for decisive action is now,” he said. ‎ ‎According to him, the Federal Government must move beyond assurances and deploy a clear, coordinated and measurable response, including improved intelligence gathering, adequately equipped security personnel, stronger protection for vulnerable communities and effective measures to rescue abducted persons and prosecute perpetrators. ‎ ‎“We need more than assurances.

We need a clear, coordinated and measurable security response,” Wakili said. “The Federal Government must work closely with the state governments and security agencies to develop practical solutions that produce visible improvements on the ground.” ‎ ‎He insisted that his appeal was not hostility towards the President or opposition for its own sake, but a demand for responsible leadership. ‎ ‎“The security and welfare of citizens must take precedence over political interests, party loyalty and campaign calculations,” he said. ‎ ‎Wakili warned that if the governors failed to use the President’s visit to press for concrete security action, they would have to explain to their people why such an opportunity was allowed to pass. ‎ ‎“History will remember not only the promises our leaders made, but also what they did when their people needed them most,” he said. ‎ ‎He said farmers must be able to return to their farms, traders must conduct their businesses safely and children must attend school without fear of abduction. ‎ ‎“Our security is not a campaign issue to be discussed and forgotten after the rallies.

It is a matter of life and death,” Wakili declared. ‎ ‎“The governors must speak. The President must listen. And the people must see decisive action.
