Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled a terrorist ambush along the Anka–Guruzu Road in Zamfara State and rescued two abducted herders. The soldiers also recovered 520 livestock in Sokoto State. The military disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie.

According to the statement, troops of Sector 2 came under a coordinated ambush by terrorists positioned on both sides of the Anka–Guruzu Road on October 28, 2026, while conducting a fighting patrol following reports of terrorist activities in the area. The troops reportedly responded with superior firepower, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers, who fled in disarray.

The rescued victims are aged 50 and 14. They were subsequently handed over to the Sabon Birni Local Government authorities. The Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General W.
