Rangers turn focus to Rivers United

Rangers International will face Rivers United in an NPFL matchday 11 fixture after being eliminated from the CAF Champions League by MC Alger.

Rangers International have turned their attention to the Nigeria Premier Football League after suffering a 3-2 aggregate defeat to MC Alger of Algeria in the CAF Champions League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Flying Antelopes will face Rivers United in their Matchday 11 fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, hoping to put their continental disappointment behind them and strengthen their push for the league title.

Announcing their focus on the encounter, the Enugu club wrote on their official X handle, “Focus shifts to the next battle! We travel to Port Harcourt to face Rivers United FC in our next NPFL fixture. The quest for those crucial three points continues.”

Rangers, coached by Fidelis Ilechukwu, will now concentrate on their domestic campaign following their elimination from the continental competition.

The reigning NPFL champions have 17 points, level with Rivers United, but have two outstanding matches that could help them climb the standings.

Rivers United lead the table with 17 points from 10 matches and will be looking to maintain their position when they host Rangers.

The encounter presents both sides with an opportunity to strengthen their title ambitions, with Rangers seeking to close the gap on the league leaders and Rivers United aiming to consolidate their position at the summit.
