As part of efforts to sustain the fight against insecurity, President Bola Tinubu is set to induct five new helicopters acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The helicopters, made up of two Airbus H-125 and three Agusta 109 Trekker B, will be inducted at the newly reconstructed hangar of the NAF at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

President Tinubu is also expected to commission the newly reconstructed hangar housing the helicopters.

NAF took delivery of the new helicopters last month as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to modernise and re-equip the Armed Forces to confront evolving security threats.

The newly acquired platforms comprise three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters manufactured by Leonardo Helicopters of Italy and two H-125 helicopters produced by Airbus Helicopters.

A statement by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the acquisition was part of the Federal Government’s sustained investment in strengthening the operational capabilities of the service.

Ejodame said the three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as part of a batch of 10 recently acquired by the Federal Government.

He said the remaining seven helicopters were expected to be delivered before the end of 2026.

The two H-125 helicopters had earlier been delivered to the NAF, bringing the total number of helicopters covered by the latest acquisition to five.
