BJP leader L. Murugan, who recently resigned from his Rajya Sabha membership and as a Union Minister of State, on Thursday (October 29, 2026) rejected allegations made against him in certain sections of the media. “These statements are baseless, absolutely fabricated, malicious, and are politically motivated with the sole intent to malign my hard-earned reputation and create unnecessary confusion among the general public to give certain colours to my resignation,” he said.

In a statement, Mr. Murugan said certain unwanted and derogatory statements had been made and circulated through various media platforms by those “unable to accept my present role to improve the party cadres at all levels.” The purpose of his resignation was “only to work for the cadres at the grassroots level to enable the party to face the 2029 Lok Sabha elections,” he said. All other allegations and unwanted propaganda spread by certain people with political motives and malicious intent were far from the truth, he said.

“Making such statements is not only defamatory in causing disrepute to my fair name and reputation, but it is also concerning various other individuals, and thereby the very motive seems to be larger in scope to unnecessarily create unrest among the people of Tamil Nadu,” the former BJP Tamil Nadu unit president said. He called for the removal of all the content/posts/publications made with regard to his resignation.

“Such conduct cannot be permitted to continue. I call upon those responsible to issue a public apology for making and disseminating statements without any supporting evidence, in an irresponsible manner and with malicious intent, thereby causing serious damage to my good name and reputation,” Mr. Murugan said.

If such defamatory content were not removed, Mr. Murugan said appropriate legal action would be taken, both before criminal and civil courts, at the cost of such individuals who were spreading false propaganda against him, which he said was far from the truth, highly defamatory, and derogatory. “Hope the above is clarified and the public is put on notice that the very purpose of my resignation is to serve the State of Tamil Nadu and to promote the party at all levels.”

The far-right candidate was supposed to claim the presidency, but Brazilian voters had other ideas For Donald Trump, Brazil’s presidential election was meant to represent the crest of the “orange wave” – a three-year surge of rightwing triumphs that has reshaped Latin American politics in the US president’s tangerine-hued image.
