Haveri final electoral roll sees an increase of 13,013 voters

The district now has 12,33,294 voters after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll

Voters whose names are missing from the final list can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6, according to Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Vijayamahantesh Danammanavar.

Haveri district has 12,33,294 voters in the final electoral roll published on Tuesday following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Vijayamahantesh Danammanavar said on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting of representatives of political parties in his office, Dr. Danammanavar urged voters to verify their names and details in the final list at their respective polling stations, tahsildar offices or the offices of the Electoral Registration Officer.

The final roll comprises 6,28,297 men, 6,04,969 women and 28 voters in the others category. The draft roll published on August 24 had 12,20,281 voters, indicating an increase of 13,013 in the final list.

Among the six Assembly constituencies, Shiggaon has the highest number of voters at 2,21,027, followed by Haveri with 2,16,286, Ranebennur 2,15,275, Hangal 2,04,335, Byadgi 1,99,108 and Hirekerur with 1,77,263 voters.

The final roll includes 16,836 young voters, compared with 9,961 in the draft list, an increase of 6,875.

Dr. Danammanavar said that voters whose names are missing from the final list can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6.

As 77 polling stations have been added in the district, some voters might find their names shifted to neighbouring polling stations, he said and urged them to check the final list.

He also said that eligible young people aged 17 and above can submit advance applications for voter registration.

Besides January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 are qualifying dates for enrolment enabling those turning 18 in the respective quarters to register without waiting for the next annual revision.

Applications can be submitted online through the designated electoral registration authorities and the Election Commission’s voter services platforms.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Nagaraj L. and representatives of various political parties attended the meeting.

Callistus Mahama urges parties to focus on voters rather than EC appointments

Executive Secretary to President John Dramani Mahama, Callistus Mahama, said political parties must focus on persuading voters and strengthening their election-day operations rather than allowing suspicions about the political affiliations of Electoral Commission (EC) officials to dominate electoral debates. Warning against complacency Mr Mahama cautioned that portraying electoral victory as dependent primarily on who occupies positions at the Commission could encourage complacency among supporters when they favour an appointment and fatalism when they oppose it.
