Keralam initiates process to rectify anomalies in fair value of land

Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar says government has taken note of public grievances over discrepancies in fair values of land and directed District Collectors to examine the complaints and rectify anomalies based on appeals filed by affected landowners

The Keralam government has initiated measures to rectify discrepancies in the fair value of land across the State, Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar informed the Assembly here on Thursday (October 29, 2026).

Replying to legislators’ questions during Question Hour, the Minister said the government had taken note of public grievances over discrepancies in fair values of land and directed District Collectors to examine the complaints and rectify anomalies based on appeals filed by affected landowners.

To ensure the timely completion of the review of areas where land has been assigned excessively high or low fair values, the government has included the exercise in its 100-day action plan and issued necessary instructions to the officials concerned, he said. The Minister also added that the process of identifying discrepancies in the fair values fixed in 2010 had already begun. Data on areas where the values were found to be excessively high or low had been collected, and steps were now under way to revise the fair value of land across the State.

District Collectors are taking appropriate action on complaints regarding discrepancies in fair value of land. Affected people can approach the respective District Collectors with appeals against excessively high or low valuations. The Collectors, who serve as appellate authorities, will adjudicate these appeals and take necessary steps to rectify errors in fair value determination and ensure appropriate redress for eligible landowners, the Minister said.
