Nutritional deficiencies, alcohol intake linked to venous stroke in Karnataka: NIMHANS study

Researchers from NIMHANS found that the nutritional gaps extended beyond Vitamin B12, with inadequate intake of protein, folate, pyridoxine and other nutrients also evident.
Multiple nutritional deficiencies and alcohol consumption could be contributing to the high prevalence of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) in Karnataka, according to a study by researchers at NIMHANS.
CVT is a subtype of stroke caused by a blood clot in the veins or venous sinuses that drain blood from the brain, rather than in the arteries like a typical stroke.
