World Stroke Day observed in Mysuru
World Stroke Day was observed on Thursday by the District Health and Family Welfare unit, Mysuru, District Leprosy Office, Karnataka Brain health Initiative (KaBhi), and the zilla panchayat, Mysuru, at the Rehabilitation Centre for Homeless in Jyothinagar.
The programme aimed to create awareness on stroke, its symptoms, and the importance of timely treatment.
In his inaugural address, district leprosy officer Dr. Nagesh P. Aradhya said: “‘Every Minute Matters - Recognise Stroke, Act Fast, Save Lives’ was the slogan of World Stroke Day 2026. Timely treatment during the golden period of 4.5 hours immediately after stroke can save lives,” he said.
He said providing healthcare services to those in need was a duty. A team of experts in room no. 108 of the district hospital provides treatment for stroke and paralysis, headaches, epilepsy, and memory-related problems. He urged the public to utilise the services.
Medical consultant of KaBHI Dr. Shalini emphasised the importance of early detection and explained the ‘BE FAST’ method of recognising stroke symptoms.
