Health Minister K. Muraleedharan releases the logo of Hridayaragam on Thursday.

The State government’s latest health initiative, Hridayaragam, will take health checks to the doorstep as health workers will visit people at their homes for disease screening, rather than relying on them to attend medical camps. The programme’s accent is on prevention and early detection of chronic diseases, Health Minister K. Muraleedharan said here.

Mr. Muraleedharan, who took part in a walkathon organised by the Health department as part of World Stroke Day observance on Thursday, also released the logo of Hridayaragam on the occasion.

In the first phase, Hridayaragam will be implemented in Vattiyurkavu, Idukki and Nilambur constituencies, and will soon be extended across the State.

Aryadan Shoukath, M.R. Baiju and Roy K. Paulose, all MLAs; Kerala Chalachitra Academy vice-chairperson Priyanka Nair; Health Services director V. Meenakshi; and S.S. Lal, chairman of the Health department’s high-power committee, among others, joined the walkathon.

Dileep R., nodal officer of the Stroke Centre–Stroke Cath Lab at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, administered the Stroke Day pledge.
