A woman allegedly faked a cancer diagnosis in an elaborate scam to convince kind-hearted people to give her money.

Camilla Maria Barbosa dos Santos of Brazil has been accused of shaving her hair to look like she was undergoing chemotherapy and lying about treatment.

The 27-year-old, who was investigated for embezzlement, told people she was raising money for the 'treatment'.

She told officers she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and was in remission.

The alleged scammer later claimed that he returned mid-last year and spread to his lungs and gut after catching dengeu virus.

But local police said Ms. Santos was unable to provide proof of her diagnosis.
