Inside Mickey Rourke’s Desperate Attempt to Stay Housed

At 73 years old, Mickey Rourke finds himself confronted with a reality far removed from red carpets and film premieres.

The acclaimed actor is now facing the threat of eviction from his rental home in Los Angeles.

Rather than retire quietly, Rourke authorized a public appeal that puts his fight in the spotlight and invites fans to intervene at a critical time.

Facing growing pressure over unpaid rent, the actor agreed to a GoFundMe campaign launched early Sunday.

The effort, titled “Support Mickey to Stop Eviction,” was created with his “full permission” and asks his supporters to “help Mickey Rourke stay home.”

The description of the fundraiser highlights the urgency of the situation.

“Mickey Rourke is currently facing a very difficult and urgent situation: he risks being evicted from his home,” it said.

He added: “Life doesn’t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and life, he is now facing a difficult financial time that puts his home at risk.”

The campaign is designed to cover “immediate housing expenses and prevent eviction.”

Beyond the immediate goal of stopping evictions, fundraising emphasizes the emotional weight of the moment.

“The goal is to give Mickey some stability and peace of mind during a stressful time so he can stay home and have the space he needs to get back on his feet,” the description explains. “Any donation, whatever the amount, will make a real difference. »

The GoFundMe is being overseen by Liya-Joelle Jones, a close friend and member of Mickey Rourke’s management team, who said The Hollywood Reporter“Mickey is going through a really tough time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help him.”

Mickey Rourke and the legal clock ticking at home

Court records obtained by the Daily Mail say the actor was served a three-day notice on Dec. 18, demanding payment or return of his Los Angeles rental property. The notice allegedly arrived while Rourke was away, resulting in the documents being posted outside the house, a detail that underscores how badly the situation escalated.

According to records, the amount in question amounts to $59,100 in unpaid rent. The complaint was filed by landlord Eric T. Goldie in Los Angeles Superior Court and does not stop at just rent arrears.

Goldie is also seeking attorney fees and a total termination of the lease. If approved by the court, the move could force Rourke to resign whether or not the balance is ultimately settled, adding an extra level of urgency to an already stressful time.

The case puts Rourke in a race against time, where settling the debt may not be enough to secure his place in the house he is fighting to keep.

An expensive lease and a house with Hollywood history

The rental contract at the center of the dispute is relatively recent. Rourke began renting the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence on March 30, initially agreeing to a monthly rent of $5,200.

Court documents later claim the rent jumped to $7,000 starting in the second month, a steep increase that appears to have intensified the financial strain.

Although the numbers are intimidating, the property itself adds an ironic touch to the story. Built in 1926, the house carries a slice of Hollywood history, having been occupied in the 1940s by legendary crime novelist Raymond Chandler. Nestled in the Beverly Grove neighborhood just south of West Hollywood, the home is steps from The Grove and the Original Farmers Market, a prime location at a premium price.

The housing legal drama is just one chapter in a controversy-filled 2025 for Rourke. Earlier in April, the actor’s stint on “Celebrity Big Brother” came to an abrupt and very public end after producers cited unacceptable language and behavior directed at fellow cast member JoJo Siwa.

What happened inside the house quickly spread into the public sphere, triggering violent reactions from viewers. Rourke’s comments about Siwa’s sexuality struck a chord, sparking accusations of homophobia and overshadowing the series itself. The situation was made even worse when his remarks reportedly left Siwa visibly upset, amplifying outrage online and among fans of the show.

Social media criticism was swift and relentless, reframing her appearance on the reality show as a cautionary tale rather than a comeback moment. The controversy added reputational pressure to an already difficult time, leaving Rourke facing scrutiny on several fronts at once.
