Ryan Lochte reportedly sold three of his Olympic gold medals for a whopping six-figure sum.
The 41-year-old has been making headlines in recent months due to his ongoing divorce from his wife, Kayla Lochte.
Ryan Lochte also sparked concerns after reports emerged that the swimmer was facing financial difficulties.

According to a new report from CLLCT, Ryan has officially sold three of his Olympic gold medals for a whopping $385,520.
The Blast previously reported on Ryan’s decision to auction off his medals. The swimmer worked with Goldin Auction House and shared the news in an Instagram post.
Ryan previously sold bronze and silver medals for $166,000 in 2022; however, this year he sold the gold medals from the 2004, 2008 and 2016 Summer Games.

Ryan faced a wave of criticism after revealing he was teaming up with Goldin to auction off assets that many thought he should have kept forever.
Many speculated that he was struggling financially, suggesting that he might find other ways to make money before selling the rewards he had worked hard to earn.
However, Ryan hit back at his critics, saying winning Olympic medals was not why he swam. “My passion has always been to be one of the best swimmers in the world. These medals? They were just the icing on the cake of an incredible journey,” he said.

Having won more than 80 international medals throughout his career, Ryan said this way of giving back has been rewarding for him. “I handed out medals to the fans and young kids in the stands because it was never just about me. It’s about inspiring the next generation and helping them chase their dreams. The memories, the hard work and the connection with all of you are what I cherish the most,” he said.

Ryan Lochte is in the middle of a messy divorce from his ex-wife

According to The Blast, Ryan is in the middle of a contentious divorce from his ex-wife, Kayla.
The Florida-based real estate agent announced plans to part ways with the swimmer in the summer of 2025. “Sometimes we are faced with trials that we did not choose or see coming. And in those times, we are forced to make the most difficult decisions to protect our peace, our children and our future,” she wrote on Instagram.
In the months that followed, Ryan and Kayla received significant attention due to their public divorce filings. In some of them, Kayla accused him of struggling with drug addiction and using drugs in the presence of their minor children.

Did Ryan auction off his gold medals due to financial difficulties?

The auction of Ryan’s medals comes at an interesting time, as the Fletcher Park Homeowners Association has sued him and Kayla over their Gainesville, Florida home.
Ryan and Kayla were accused of failing to pay interest and various fees. The association reportedly filed a lien on the property in July 2025, seeking payment of more than $3,000. However, the fees remained unpaid, leading to a nasty lawsuit.
Before that, additional reports revealed that the couple had racked up nearly $300,000 in debt with various lenders and government agencies, including the IRS and Shands University Hospital and Clinic.
Ryan Joins New Reality TV Show
In addition to the $385,000 from his gold medals, Ryan will also be able to add another sizable sum to his portfolio thanks to his appearance on the Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check.”
In the series, Ryan and a slew of other reality stars and celebrities will compete in a variety of competitions to take their cooking skills from “not” to “hot.”
“The kitchen isn’t where this season’s celebrities shine, but Jeff and Tiffany are determined to change that,” said Betsy Ayala, head of content and food at Warner Bros. “Worst Cooks is where comedy and culinary chaos collide, but in the end, there are awe-inspiring culinary transformations that will blow our audiences away.”
