Declared was quietly one of the best RPGs of 2025. In fact, it even made My cityIt is list of the best games of the year. But it was also one of the few remaining Microsoft games still exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S. That changes next month. Obsidian Entertainment has confirmed the Skyrim-like will arrive on PlayStation 5 on February 17 with a big anniversary update on all platforms.
Despite the contribution Forza Horizon And War equipment on PS5 in 2025, Declared has remained an unusual island of exclusivity amid Microsoft’s new cross-platform push. It will now join Obsidian Entertainment’s other 2025 RPG, The Outer Worlds 2on the Sony platform where millions of additional players will have the chance to try it. Here is the developer interview from the New Game+ Showcase where the port was announced:
Obsidian also revealed what the game’s next big update will entail. In addition to a photo mode and a new game plus mode, players will also have access to new character races, including dwarves, and an additional weapon type. The new Game Plus mode, meanwhile, will reset players’ level to one level, but allow them to keep all their equipment from the previous game and explore new enemy modifiers. However, the new races represented the real bulk of the work.
“It’s a lot of work and a difficult thing to really define, especially in Declared with its parkour systems and its combat mechanics and all the types of weapons and all that kind of stuff in the game,” Dimitri Berman said in the interview. “Our different races are different sizes, they have different shapes, they make for a very unique gaming experience when you play as each of them in a particular first-person game. So it was something new to fight for Declared.”
While the game is playing like Ancient scrollsit takes place in the fantastic universe of Pillars of Eternity games. The first of these is also currently undergoing a major update to add a turn-based mode. We will see if Obsidian plans to make a possible Pillars 3 which merges the best parts of both series.
