As The Blast reported, during the same episode, Rapaport faced backlash after a tense roundtable discussion with Colton Underwood. As the group debated who might be a traitor, Rapaport took aim at Underwood and argued that he should be suspected, seemingly dragging Underwood’s real-life story into play. Rapaport claimed that Underwood, who came out as gay in April 2021, had an advantage when it came to deception because “no one in this room would be better at keeping a secret than you.”

Underwood immediately pushed back. “That’s it. Do you think it was fun for 29 years of my life?” he replied, as Rapaport quickly tried to backpedal and insisted his comment had “nothing to do with that.”

Outside of the show, Rapaport told TMZ, “I talked to [Underwood] right after filming. We had a great man-to-man conversation, and it was all very cool and respectful. I like him and wish him and his family the best.
Underwood also addressed the controversy and acknowledged that the comment stirred up real emotions related to his past. In a post-episode interview, Underwood said he doesn’t “hold grudges” but admitted the remark was triggering and reinforced why he thought it was important to stand up for yourself in the moment.

Rapaport is no stranger to controversy, and the “Traitors” backlash is just the latest chapter in a pattern that’s been building for some time. Last year, Rapaport sparked a backlash after sharing what appeared to be an AI-generated image depicting a Holocaust victim.
Although the post quickly gained traction, attracting nearly 10,000 likes and more than 1,200 shares in a matter of hours, experts didn’t buy it. The Auschwitz Memorial and Museum have publicly responded, warning against the spread of false AI-generated images linked to Auschwitz and calling them a dangerous distortion that disrespects the victims and their memory.
Michael Rapaport’s Barstool Feud Became Legal With $375,000 Lawsuit
That’s not all, as in 2018, the actor sued Barstool Sports for $375,000 after what was described as a volatile fallout. Rapaport had been with the company for a short time before being fired in February 2018, following a very public Twitter feud that reportedly escalated into attacking Barstool fans. Barstool founder Dave Portnoy eventually intervened and fired him.
After his firing, Rapaport allegedly sent Barstool a ceasefire against the company continuing to sell merchandise depicting his face, claiming he still owed him a percentage of sales tied to his image.
He filed a complaint for breach of contract and defamation.
