Judge dismisses shame allegations against singer as remaining allegations go to trial

On the red carpet, Lizzo recently scored a legal victory. A judge has rejected fat shaming claims stemming from a 2023 lawsuit filed by three former dancers.

In a video posted to social media, the “Good As Hell” singer said the court found no evidence that the dancers were fired because of weight gain, instead saying their dismissal was related to an unauthorized private recording.

However, the broader lawsuit remains active. Complaints regarding allegations of sexual harassment will be adjudicated.

The dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, claim they were pressured to attend explicit shows and interact with nude performers while touring between 2021 and 2023. Lizzo has strongly denied the accusations.

His legal team tried to block the claims by arguing that the group outings were part of his artistic process and protected by free speech, but the dancers’ lawyers pushed back, urging the court to allow the case to proceed.

Lizzo has repeatedly denied these allegations, saying her open-mindedness about sexuality was misused to misrepresent her character.

She also spoke about the emotional toll of the legal battle, calling the last two years deeply painful. Despite this, she says she is determined to fully fight this case and has no intention of resolving the issue. “I’m not settling,” she said. “I will fight every claim until the truth is revealed.”

Looking ahead, Lizzo is returning to the spotlight in a different way. She’s set to host a special performance as part of Netflix’s “Is a Joke” festival in May, blending music and comedy for a one-of-a-kind showcase.

The festival will take place in dozens of venues across Los Angeles from May 4-10, featuring performances from a wide range of A-list talent.
