According to reports, the singer changed her phone number in order to “set boundaries” and “protect her peace” amid the “It Ends With Us” drama.
These messages were made public by Justin Baldoni’s lawyers before the trial, scheduled for May, which remains a possibility since the president of the court has not yet ruled on a motion to dismiss the case.

Taylor Swift’s phone number change wasn’t ‘petty’ or ‘dramatic’

A few days ago, messages between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift surfaced online after being unsealed as part of the actress’ ongoing legal feud with her “It Ends With Us” co-star, Baldoni.
Now the shocking revelation of having her private messages exposed online reportedly forced Swift to change her phone number.
According to sources who spoke to journalist Rob Shuter #ShutterScoopthe singer’s surprising decision was about privacy and control.
“Taylor had to set boundaries and protect his peace,” a close source explained. “She is very private and doesn’t appreciate people crossing boundaries.”

A second source revealed: “It wasn’t petty or dramatic, it was about taking back control of her life. She needed to make sure her friends knew her new number so she could stay in touch on her terms.”

The singer is not afraid to impose limits and has a “very tight” circle of friends
At this time, it’s unclear if Swift shared her new number with Lively, as their relationship has reportedly been strained since the singer was dragged into the feud last year.
Either way, the number would be limited to a very small circle, allowing Swift to quickly end any situation that might compromise her privacy.
“Taylor’s circle is very small. She values her personal space, and when things get complicated, she shuts it down quickly. Changing her number was the cleanest way to do it,” another source also noted.
With the number change, Swift also seems to have proven that she’s not afraid to set boundaries, even when it comes to long-standing personal relationships.

“It was a complete reset,” another source close to the singer said. “She decides who can reach her and when – and that’s how she keeps her sanity in Hollywood.”

Blake Lively and Taylor Swift appear to shade Justin Baldoni in leaked texts
One of the unsealed messages was sent by Lively to Swift in April 2024, a few months before “It Ends With Us” was released in theaters.
The text included a link to the film’s trailer, which featured Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet.”
The two then appeared to discuss how the inclusion of Baldoni’s song might be interpreted by audiences, particularly given the ongoing tension between Lively and Baldoni at the time, as well as Swift’s close friendship with Lively.
“If Justin was strategic/He wouldn’t look like Taylor Swift in the trailer/Because that gives you more power over the movie, he’s your ally, not his,” Swift wrote in part of the text, according to AP News.
Lively replied: “You are so right. And so smart to call him out. He should have shunned your music. I never thought about it. But damn. How stupid. This was his only chance to have the appearance of an advantage.”

Lawyers for Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni appeared in court on January 22
A hearing for the current trial was held earlier this week, during which both sides presented arguments on whether the case should be summarily dismissed or proceed to trial.
“It is not enough to show that sex or sexuality has found a place in the workplace,” said Baldoni’s lawyer, Jonathan Bach, while emphasizing the importance of context in this case.
“The onus is on them to show that not only did this practice enter the workplace, but it was used to discriminate against women,” Bach added.
Blake Lively’s lawyers insist her co-star acted inappropriately and ‘consistently’
Meanwhile, Lively’s lawyer argued that Baldoni’s behavior was “consistently inappropriate and crossed the line.”
They cited a birth scene and a dance sequence as examples of where the director failed to be professional during his work with Lively.
For the moment, the presiding judge, Lewis Liman, has not yet ruled on the question, and the trial remains scheduled for May 18, 2026.
