French lawmakers unanimously approved a bill Wednesday to end the notion of “conjugal duty,” following criticism from women’s rights groups that it undermines sexual consent and allows marital rape. Supported by more than 120 deputies, the bill clarifies that cohabitation does not require spouses to have sexual relations and is now submitted to the Senate for approval.
