The 55-year-old actor revealed on the Monday, January 5, episode of his “I Am Rapaport” podcast that he plans to run for mayor of New York City in 2029, enthusiastically introducing himself as “Michael Rapaport, aka Mayor Rapaport. Mr. Mayor Rapaport.”
“Let me tell you something, guys, girls, women, kids of all ages,” he continued. “2025 has been a crazy year, and I don’t think it’s going to get calmer or cooler in 2026, the way things started. That’s why I’m running for mayor.”
Rapaport’s announcement comes just weeks after Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as New York City’s new mayor.
