Three days ago I was talking about how sometimes good things happen, like HBO’s live action The last of us series look expected to end in three seasons rather than four. Well, the monkey’s paw didn’t just curl, it curled in on itself with enough intensity to open a portal to a much worse dimension. Craig Mazin, who is the showrunner of the post-apocalyptic adaptation, didn’t end up at HBO; he is apparently now working on a Baldur’s Gate series that will continue the story of Larian Studios’ RPG. Shoot me, HBO.
Deadline reports that Mazin is working alongside Hasbro to create a continuation of the Baldur’s Gate 3 a story that will include both new and some old characters from the game. You know, the ones whose destiny you could have greatly influenced with your decisions too drastically for the writers to have any room to make radical choices for them? I already don’t trust Mazin with the characters when following the storyline of the source material, much less continuing their stories beyond the credits. According to DeadlineIn Mazin’s story, he has complete creative control. Call me Gale Dekarios of Waterdeep as I might explode right now.
“After spending almost 1000 hours in the incredible world of Baldur’s Gate 3it’s a dream come true to be able to continue the story created by Larian and Wizards of The Coast,” Mazin said in a statement to Deadline. “I am a devoted fan of D&D and the brilliant way in which Swen Vincke and his talented team adapted it. I can’t wait to help bring Baldur’s Gate and all of its incredible characters with as much respect and love as possible, and I am deeply grateful to Gabe Marano and his team at Hasbro for entrusting me with this incredibly important property.
Thanks, I hate that. And I will definitely put my boxing gloves back on to enter the ring when he comes out like I did for The last of us.
