New Baldur’s Gate 3 mod finally gives fan-favorite character a shine

Baldur’s Gate 3 it’s about overcoming hardship, and no character represents that better than Barcus Wroot. After setting out in search of his friend Wulbren Bongle, this unfortunate deep gnome suffers all kinds of insults, and the group’s intervention is necessary to prevent him from dying during the story. Worse yet, Wulbren Bongle turns out to be a total jerk, leaving Barcus’ noble efforts underappreciated.

Nexus Mods User What’s new is clearly one of Barcus’ many fans, as they released a mod this week that adds a variety of new outfits for Barcus throughout the game. Barcus starts with a similar outfit when he first appears tied to a windmill, but each subsequent appearance now comes with a new look.

Baldur’s Gate 3 mod gives Barcus Wroot a full closet

The height of Faerune Fashion

The Barcus Wroot – Dynamic Appearances mod doesn’t exactly spare Barcus from his many indignities, but it does allow him to deal with them in style. Like most Baldur’s Gate 3 NPCBarcus’ appearance remains fairly static throughout the game unmodified. In the mod’s description, Whatsontheflip notes that it only shakes it up in Rivington, so the total of eight different outfits added in the mod makes a big difference.

In addition to outfit changes, Barcus also switches between weapons in the mod. He receives the same pickaxe as before in Grymforge, but later appearances grant him war pickaxes and hammers.

Wulbren Bongle won’t like it

Blessed are the pure in heart

The average Baldur’s Gate 3 party is constantly changing up his style with new gear, so letting Barcus do the same is ultimately just a way to spread the love. Whatsontheflip was careful to stick to looks that “would be in Barcus character to wear“, so there’s nothing immersion-breaking about the new outfits.

More importantly, letting Barcus become a role model is a good way to stick to the the despicable Wulbren Bonglewhich does not receive such blessings in the mod. He may not show it on the surface, but there’s no way Wulbren doesn’t feel a little embarrassed when Barcus harasses him at every turn.

Barcus Wroot – Dynamic skins are far from Whatontheflip’s first Baldur’s Gate 3 mod, and those looking to turn the game into a track might want to take a look at the rest. From Ravengard Restyled to Volo Wears Camp Clothes, many NPCs have received fashion upgrades. None, however, have been as deserving as Baldur’s Gate 3the beloved Barcus Wroot.
