Once registered, I had to fill out several online forms. This includes information that may personally identify me, such as my social security number, phone numbers, email addresses, credit/debit cards, etc. Filling out the information took about 20 minutes. It’s not easy, but NordProtect’s interface is clear and intuitive. It places the information you want to see at the top, often next to brief but informative details, with the option to drill down. Notifications are also sparse, so you’re not inundated with distracting alerts.
The exception to this rule was the first time I logged in. I’ve seen dozens of alerts associated with data breaches that have occurred over the past two decades. Once these were rejected, new notifications were rare. The interface may seem a bit Also simple. I found it easy to forget exactly what the service did for me. NordProtect does not have a mobile app. The website works quite well on a smartphone, but a dedicated app would look better.
NordProtect has not provided me with any information or taken any action that has an easily quantifiable impact on my privacy. I reviewed each of the 48 data breach alerts that appeared and found that none of them contained any concerning information. Much of it was outdated (old passwords, old addresses, etc.). Some of them were just plain wrong.
NordProtect can offer financial guarantees, but my credit is already frozen and my bank offers free credit monitoring services. I already use a VPN, so NordVPN wasn’t new to me. The most tangible services I got were identity theft insurance and access to Incogni. On the other hand, I gained less because I am already quite active in monitoring my personal data. NordProtect would be more valuable if I started from scratch.

NordProtect offers monthly, annual, and biennial plans, but the pricing pushes you heavily toward annual subscriptions. Silver costs $16, gold $24, and platinum $32 if you pay monthly. It’s expensive! However, annual plans cost $84, $114, and $144 for the same tiers, respectively, and two-year plans cost $120/$180/$240.
