5 Safety Tips Every Woman Needs to Know

Protecting yourself is very important, especially for women. This is very dangerous for women living in the 21st century. If you’re a woman, you’re probably aware of the dangers of the world and the anxiety that can take over your mind. As a woman, I can attest to how scary the world can be. Although many wish to live in a world of rainbows and butterflies, this is not realistic.

We live in a fallen world steeped in sin. There is no escaping this truth because we live in a world rife with murder, abuse, and unethical behavior. As women, we need to know how to protect ourselves. By learning to defend ourselves, we will be more likely to be able to live without fear. Here are five ways to protect yourself.

1. Carry pepper spray

One way to protect yourself is to carry bear spray with you at all times. Pepper spray can be purchased online or at a department store. It’s relatively inexpensive and can help you in several ways. Having pepper spray with you will help you feel more protected and give you a tool in case you need it. Knowing how to use pepper spray is essential because if you overuse it, you could hurt yourself.

Be sure to read all package directions and brochures to learn how to use pepper spray. If you use the pepper spray according to the directions, you should be able to successfully learn how to use it in case you need to use it on a predator or intruder. We hope and pray that you will never need to use pepper spray on anyone, but it is good to have it with you at all times and know how to use it.

I’ve been carrying pepper spray for a long time and it gives me a sense of protection that I wouldn’t have otherwise. Sometimes just having the pepper spray visible can also make you feel like other people won’t try to harass or bother you. Many companies sell pepper spray on key chains, this is the type I have, and it is easily accessible. Consider getting some pepper spray, as it can protect you for years.

2. Invest in home security

A second way to protect yourself is to invest in your home security. Home security is expensive, but it is necessary. Whether you’re married, living with friends, or living alone, investing in your home security is essential. Having locks is good; However, it is even better to have a home security system with cameras and devices that notify the police if someone tries to break in. Again, the hope and prayer is that this will never happen, but it is crucial to be prepared in case it does.

Sometimes being prepared can help prevent something from happening. In fact, if someone comes to install your home security, they will place a sign in your yard saying that you have home security. This will also serve as a deterrent to criminals. Never underestimate how much these little things can really help and protect you. It might save your life one day.

3. Always lock your doors

A third way to protect yourself is to always lock your doors. This applies to your house, your apartment and your vehicle. All of these items must be locked to ensure your safety and that of your belongings. Many people are careless when it comes to locking their doors, but it’s something everyone needs to be more intentional about. If you have trouble forgetting to lock your doors, write yourself a note and post it near the door or inside your car. These are great ways to help you remember to lock your doors.

You must lock it every time you enter a house, apartment or car. Don’t delay in locking your doors. It’s best to lock them just to be safe, especially if you’re alone. If you are with someone, ask them to lock the door behind you when you bring groceries or purchases. However, if you are alone, lock the door as soon as possible upon entry.

The same goes if you get into your car. As soon as you get into your car, lock the doors. I still do this because it has almost become a nervous habit. I try to tell myself that it’s always better to be careful than careless. While many might think this is excessive, others will agree that it is necessary. As someone living in a city with high crime, it’s never too early to lock your doors and leave.

4. Tell someone if you go out at night

A fourth way to protect yourself is to tell someone if you go out at night. If you go out alone in the evening, let someone know where you are, where you are going, and when you will return. If possible, try to have someone else accompany you. Preferably, it should be a man, such as a brother, friend or partner. However, if it is impossible to have someone with you, just be aware of your surroundings, go where you are going, and let someone know where you are.

Going out in the evening is unfortunately no longer very safe these days, especially for women. Night time can attract criminals, so it is best to avoid going out alone at night. Try to stay in well-lit areas and always be aware of your surroundings. If you ever feel unsafe, go to the nearest store and wait for a friend to come pick you up.

5. Use the buddy system

A fifth way to protect yourself is to use the buddy system. The buddy system consists of always traveling in a group of at least two people. It would be better to be a larger group; however, as long as you have someone else with you, things are much safer. This makes things even safer if the person you are with is a man. If you’re a single woman, try asking a friend or your brother to accompany you to events. This will ensure your safety and give you peace of mind.

Let them know you don’t feel safe and need extra protection. If they are truly your friends, they will understand. The same goes for your brother, who should be more than happy to help you. If you can’t have a man to accompany you, ask a few girls to help you. They should be happy to help you and give you the extra security you need. They might also look for a buddy system to give them security, protection and peace of mind.
