High on life 2 is here on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, and it’s even wackier, weirder, and bigger than the original game. While not every part of this new sci-fi comedy FPS works, there’s still plenty of fun to be had in the sequel, with new talking weapons and larger worlds to explore. To help you on your journey to save humanity (again), we’ve put together a list of 13 tips you should know before you set out. High on life 2.
Talk to people! High on life 2 is at its best when it doesn’t force you to fight dozens of aliens with living weapons. Where this sequel excels is when it tells jokes, and many of the best ones can only be found by talking to NPCs. And you should keep talking to NPCs, because most of them will have many dialogues and jokes. Likewise, if the game lets you do something over and over again, like kissing someone in a kissing booth, it’s usually a good idea to do it a few times and see if the NPCs react differently. This is often the case, and it can lead to some crazy times.
Sit when watching TV or movies There are several feature films in High on life 2 which you can watch in a few places, including on Gene’s TV in the main central area of the game. But if you stay there and watch these movies, the background music and in-game audio will still be heard. So sit, which is often an option, close to the screen, and you’ll have a better view and won’t be distracted by all the noise.
When you’re told to explore the city, do it At certain times of High on life 2, the characters will tell you to go check out the city and explore while they prepare for your next missions. And you should do this! Exploring the vast multi-zone world of Circuit Arcadia will often reveal new NPCs to joke with, but more importantly, there are plenty of hidden puzzles to solve to unlock more currency, rare upgrades, and new cosmetics for your talking gun friends.
Purchase upgrades to your home base Speaking of upgrades, soon enough High on life 2 you will have access to a store inside your main HQ. Stop here regularly to purchase upgrades for your weapons to make them more powerful and useful. And don’t worry about spending too much money, because Gene will give you more money if you need it for a specific upgrade needed to progress.
Use your special abilities Gatlian often It’s very easy to forget that all your talking weapons High on life 2 have special and secondary abilities. But don’t do that. Use them instead, and use them a lot. In particular, Sweezy’s ability to stop time in a specific area is very powerful and works on certain bosses. I also think Gus’ magma disk is very powerful against tougher enemies. The point is to use these abilities often. And to help with that…
Drink plenty of Bounty Hunter energy drink Spread across almost all levels of High on life 2 are vending machines that spit out cans of energy drinks. These are useful because you can open one by pressing the special ability button (RB on Xbox) and instantly fill your weapon’s special gauge. This allows you to perform their secondary actions much more often during combat. And don’t worry, there are so many vending machines that you can drink as much as you want.
Use indents to avoid damage Short but useful tip: When you perform a kill on an enemy using Knifey, you are momentarily invulnerable. This is useful in large fights to give yourself some breathing room or avoid taking damage from a boss while assassinating a minion.
Do not play on difficulty in story mode High on life 2 offers several different difficulty modes, and although the game doesn’t punish you for choosing the easiest option, “Story Mode”, I don’t recommend it because High on life 2 is not a very difficult game, even on its hardest settings. Story mode is way too simple and boring. Stick to Easy or Normal.
Use your radar to track down remaining enemies If an objective mentions killing all enemies in an area and you can’t find the last one, check your in-game radar for a red signal. Very practical. Bonus Tip: The radar will also show you where there are hidden caches that can be destroyed for extra money.
©Squanch Games Don’t forget Jeppy I’m not going to give away who Jeppy is, but you’ll eventually unlock this strange alien sidekick who can only pronounce his name. It functions as a sort of ultimate ability for your character. And I recommend bringing him out once his meter is full, because he can take out weaker enemies and make bigger enemies suffer.
Shoot your sister when you first see her at the zoo I know you don’t want to, but you should. Trust me.
Maybe wait a month or two before getting started… Perhaps the most important tip of all. If you read this a few days or weeks later High on life 2was released on February 13, so I advise you not to play it. The game is currently filled with all sorts of bugs and glitches. Some of these were fixed via a day one patch, but I still suggest waiting a bit, playing something else, then returning to a game that is hopefully in better shape.
