Lego Batman Reduces PC RAM Requirements As Prices Rise

PC gamers were left scratching their heads when Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight revealed its surprisingly high spec demands last month. The recommended platform for playing the open-world action game would need 32 GB of RAM. Not anymore. The action-adventure game’s developers have now cut that requirement in half as the great AI-powered RAM shortage of 2026 intensifies.

THE lego batman the specs were a shock when they were first spotted January 17. They were immediately compared to the specifications of the latest Lego set, that of 2022. Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawhich recommended only 8 GB of RAM. That number has quadrupled for TT Games’ new Lego anthology in as many years. It was immediately accused of being the latest example of upcoming, under-optimized PC games.

The studio responded at the time saying that lego batman was still being optimized but something had to be submitted on the datasheet for a Steam listing to be released so the game could start collecting pre-orders and wishlists. It turns out that TT Games was conservative and significant improvements were made. No one will need to buy another 16GB stick just to run through Lego Gotham when the game launches on May 29.

“As part of our ongoing testing for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PC, we have revised our recommended hardware specifications from 32 GB of RAM to 16 GB of RAM,” it reads a new update on February 13. “Please note that our PC specifications at this point are not final. We will continue to optimize and make improvements as we get closer to launch. For more information, visit our product page on Steam.”

RAM shortage fuels spec decline lego batman isn’t the first game to go on this recommended PC spec roller coaster ride. Interactive IO 007: First Lightreleased a few days prior on May 27, also returned a pretty unforgiving initial spec sheet earlier this year. This game also recommended 32 GB at first before later dropping the requirement to 16 GB. Its VRAM requirements also decreased. Interactive IO I blamed everything on a communication problem.

To put all of this into perspective, let’s say you’re considering playing one or both of these games on PC. Your rig currently only has 16 GB of memory, so you should have upgraded initially. If you had done it last fall, the popular Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory it would have only cost you $80. Now it’s selling for double that at $160, at least when it’s available for purchase.

These AI-powered price hikes don’t appear to be reversing anytime soon. Valve has already blamed the reason for these spikes the price of the Steam Machine has not yet been revealed and why it is now expected to ship later than expected in the first half of 2026. lego batman wasn’t the first to change its spec requirements, and it certainly won’t be the last PC game this year to blink, either.
