In LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knightyou will be able to unlock fast travel for the many Gotham City map sections. This is done by traveling to SubWayne stations and solving the associated puzzles. If you haven’t found a SubWayne puzzle yet, don’t worry. You unlock your first one in the Tricorner zone at the start of the game, so continue playing through the main story.
Although many of SubWayne’s puzzles are quite simple, there are a few trickier ones. Probably one of the most confusing is the SubWayne in The Cauldron South. The entrance is blocked by a large blue shipping container and a crane that requires power to move. You can use your detection ability to highlight important pieces of the puzzle in yellow, but this won’t solve everything for you. If you have increased your detection range with Legacy of the Dark Knightthese are upgradesthen it’s even better.
How to unlock fast travel in the South Cauldron
To unlock fast travel for The Cauldron South, you must first travel to this location on the map (pictured above). The blue shipping container is obviously in the way, but ignore it for now. Instead, hop in your favorite Batmobile or motorcycle (my favorite was the Batpod after you unlocked it) and drive it around the corner to get started.
How to solve the South SubWayne cauldron puzzle
Immediately to the right of the SubWayne tunnel entrance there is another shipping container. You will need to hook onto it with your vehicle and pull, flipping the shipping container over. This will expose a small tool shed behind it. You’ll also see that there is an assembly line where the shipping container was, but the crank needed to use it doesn’t have its lever.
The lever is inside the tool shed (highlighted in the image above with the red circle). Break everything inside to completely reveal the lever, then bring it over the crank. This will move the pallet that held the shipping container to the right, exposing something that looks like an elevator (spoiler: it’s not actually an elevator). It has a yellow border and will need a little weight to turn those red lights green.
This is where things get complicated, because there’s still no power to the crane outside the SubWayne entrance, and it’s not immediately clear what you should do. The short answer is that you need enough weight on the lifting object (an official term I’m sure) for the crane to be powered. I did this by riding my Batcycle over it and down. After a while, the lights will change from red to green and the crane will receive power. It will automatically move the shipping container and you will now be able to fast travel to The Cauldron South.
Again, these steps are:
- Meet at the SubWayne entrance to Cauldron South
- Move the shipping container to the right side using a vehicle
- Take the yellow lever from the tool shed
- Move the palette to the right
- Park a Batcycle or similar vehicle on the exposed yellow-lined deck
- The feed will go to the crane, moving the shipping container
- You have now unlocked fast travel to the South Cauldron.
This was definitely the trickiest SubWayne puzzle for me while playing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knightso I hope this helped you too.
