Jill Zarin Gets Another Support for ‘Real Housewives’

Jill Zarin is not alone in facing these difficult times, because her friends are rallying behind her.

The former “Real Housewives” actress has some of her former fellow movie stars publicly speaking out in her defense after she was kicked out of the “The Real Housewives of New York“Restart the show, before the cameras start rolling.

Jill Zarin sparked controversy when she made a statement on social media touting her opinions on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance.

Zarin’s former bandmate Aviva Drescher responds to comments made about her following the posting of her now-deleted Instagram video of Bad Bunny’s performance.

The backlash poured in as fans reacted, calling Zarin a racist. Drescher’s statement is in response to that claim, and she insists that her former castmate is not racist even if his comment was that way.

Drescher addressed the media sensation’s ordeal on the “Miss Understood with Rachel Uchitel” podcast, giving a little insight into her relationship with Zarin.

“I’ve known Jill since 2011, ever since I joined ‘Housewives,’ even though we didn’t work together, we became friends. I never thought Jill was racist, and that’s really what stung me. That was just the most horrible part of her tirade,” she said.

The reality star added that she wouldn’t have done the show with Zarin if she felt any shade of racism, as she draws a hard line on the subject.

Staying on the topic, Drescher clarified that she wasn’t defending the comments made by her fellow Real Housewife, but said she didn’t think they came from a place of hatred. However, she didn’t hold back her thoughts on Zarin’s comment, saying:

“It seemed completely racist, but I don’t think she was racist. I don’t think it came from a hateful place. It was completely stupid.”

In case you missed it, Zarin posted a video analyzing the rapper’s performance in which she didn’t hold back the criticism. Her words in turn created a firestorm online, which then led to her embarking on the spinoff project “Real Housewives.”

In the video, she complained that there were no white people in the Puerto Rican artist’s performance, calling it the worst halftime show ever. “To me it felt like a political statement because there were literally no white people in any of this,” she said.

Zarin also complained that she couldn’t understand a word of Bad Bunny’s performance, even though she would have loved to, since he was singing in Spanish. She claimed that the choice of her native language over English was inappropriate.

She removed it from Instagram shortly after the video was posted, but some fans already reposted it on the upcoming reboot show “RHONHY.”

Brandi Glanville previously spoke about firing her friends on the upcoming reunion show, stating that people shouldn’t be punished for their opinions.

In her statement shared in a post on

The Blast shared that the former bravolebrity emphasized that “opinions aren’t wrong, they’re subjective,” explaining that firing her as punishment for having a different opinion didn’t send the right message.

“I want to see Jill on TV explaining herself and hopefully learning something. Or we can just keep watching the ‘yes people’ who are afraid to share,” she wrote.

Zarin’s contract with E! for the new “RHONY” spinoff, “The Golden Life,” went on hiatus shortly after its controversial video went viral. Being one of the OG Housewives, she took the news of her firing to heart.

The producers announced this in a public statement, which read: “In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with its involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in accordance with our company’s standards and values,” as shared by The Blast.

Zarin claims she admitted her fault almost immediately, which is why she took down the video, but E! she has already thrown in the towel. “[They] didn’t even give me a chance” to rectify the situation.

“I took it back straight away. People make mistakes. I’m human,” the TV star said. She was also fired before season 5 of “RHONY” in September 2011, thus marking her second removal.

E! announced that another face will replace Zarin on the set of “The Golden Life”, which is scheduled to air later this year. The show was originally set to feature the original “RHONY” cast, Zarin, Sonja Morgan, Luann de Lesseps and Ramona Singer.

With the latest developments, Zarin is replaced by Dorinda Medley, who is not a new face for the viewers. She has already starred on the show for six seasons and fans have been anticipating her return ever since.

The Blast noted in a previous release that the network had no plans to share that Medley was immediately moving from spare cast member status. Instead, they hoped to announce his role closer to the series premiere, as they wanted to extend publicity for the series a little longer.
